Defining moment

Currently listening: City Harvest Church - Because of You

There was a story about a man who fell off the ledge of a cliff, as it was quite dark and difficult to see. Fortunately, he managed to cling onto a branch at the edge. He looked up and shouted, “Hello??!! Is there anybody up there? Help me!!” Suddenly a voice answered, “Hey there, it’s me – I am God. I can help you, but you will have to let go of that branch.” The man was silent for a moment, and then shouted again, “Err.. Is there anybody ELSE up there???!!!” A group of people who came by later would come across a weird discovery, a dead body with the person’s hands basically 'glued' to the branch, but the ground only a few metres below his feet.

Some do-or-die situations lead people to come to their defining moments, where decisions need to be made which will determine where many things will end up. Today, what is yours? If there is something today that you are perhaps clinging onto tightly at such a time, perhaps God wants to remove that item so that you will once again take that step of faith and look to Him as your source of security.
