Bye Bye MED 1011..

Yesterday's exam was a killer, imagine having an ethics SAQ worth 10 marks.. ok ler.. it went sumthing like this: (condensed version)
SAQ 7
A med student posted at a hospital was asked by a doctor to drain an abscess (under the doc's supervision) from a 30 year old woman complaining of it being painful (he felt excited, "Oh great..a rare learning opportunity not to be missed!"). She managed to come in after some advice from her mum, but after interviewing her, the student suspects that she is somewhat slightly mentally challenged (ie has the mind of a small kid)..Furthermore, this is his first time doing it and he is concerned whether he should go ahead. Patient does not seem to mind and thanks them both, just wanting the pain to go away. The student thinks to himself, "If I do not try this now, I might miss out on a golden opportunity to learn hands on."
What are the ethical issues involved in this case? What would you tell the medical student?

crazy...just crap ler whatever comes to mind (of the 4 ethical principles of autonomy, beneficence, non-malificence and justice, choose what you think is involved) and how to apply the ethical principles which i felt were important in this case..
after exams, celebrated by playing DOTA version 6.30 til the wee hours of dawn..

anywayz, exams aside, holidays are here!!
